SERVICES
Career Counseling
We will use a variety of tools to access career interest starting in 8th grade. We also attend career camps, college fairs, career expos, job shadows, take college tours, and tour industry.
College Preparation
Students will elect to meet with visiting college, military and employment recruiters. Students will have supplemental college prep from the Trio presentations.
Personal Well-Being
Students can talk to Ms. Beckstrom or Mr. Martin about any personal well-being issues they want to address. Often during career and college counseling, we talk about personal growth. Students who need a stronger support for their mental health may access tele-health counseling. We provide a safe and private space to attend these zoom sessions.
ABOUT
Hello from the new school counselor!
My name is Kelsey Beckstrom. I grew up a Class B student myself in Gwinner, ND, which is best known for the Melroe Bobcat. I've primarily been working with middle and high school students since.
​
I have a masters in both school counseling and mental health counseling. I am certified in North Dakota as a Career and Technical Education school counselor, which means I get very targeted workforce development training and DP gets extra funding for my certification.
​
I live near Fordville. I am a mom to a toddler. I have an adopted dog named Sana, love all things lake life, and would chose Starbursts over chocolate any day.
