Army ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college classes. The best part of the ROTC program is it allows you to have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but when you graduate, you will be a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Active or Reserves
Students who wish to bypass college and go directly to the military can elect to be active duty. Some students want to go to college but also be in the military. Those students elect to take a 6-year reserve.

From the Counselor
I will be inviting all branches of the Armed Forces and the ND National Guard to DP. Any interested junior or senior is eligible to attend.
Students can also independently arrange to meet with a recruiter. I often join students on their first meeting if they wish.

I also encourage students to visit with several branches to learn the available jobs they qualify for, current sign on bonuses, and other perks and drawbacks.

There is no need to hurry and rush to sign with a recruiter.

Sometimes juniors are eligible for basic training before their senior year. The perk is they can collect a wage during their senior year and work toward their contracted time.

Job shadowing at the Air and Army National Guard can be arranged.
